Common Questions

Free Academic Portfolio Builder — FAQ

What is an Academic Portfolio Builder?
An Academic Portfolio Builder is a free online tool that assembles a complete, structured student academic portfolio from your inputs — covering personal profile, education history, skills, key projects, work experience, achievements, career goals, and personal statement — with a formatted preview and downloadable PDF.
Who should use this Academic Portfolio Builder?
Students at any level — secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate, and recent graduates — who need a professional academic portfolio for university applications, scholarship applications, job applications, or transfer requests. Educators and school counsellors can also use it to help students present their academic record effectively.
How do I add multiple education entries?
On Step 2, click 'Add Education' to append additional education rows. Each row captures institution name, degree/qualification, field of study, GPA, and start/end dates. All entries appear in the portfolio output and PDF.
Can I add my own projects to the portfolio?
Yes. On Step 3, click 'Add Project' for each key project. Enter the project title, a brief description, the tools/methods used, and the outcome or result. All projects appear as a dedicated section in the portfolio.
How do I download the portfolio as a PDF?
Click 'Download PDF' after generating the portfolio. This opens a print-optimised version in a new browser tab. Select 'Save as PDF' from your browser's print destination. The PDF is formatted for A4 and suitable for direct submission.

"I used the Graduate Job-Seeking Portfolio type for my first application cycle. Having a structured tool that prompted me to fill in every section — especially the projects with outcomes — meant I didn't miss anything that mattered to recruiters."

"I now recommend this to all final-year students at the start of placement season. The four-step structure forces students to think about skills, projects, and goals in a logical order — the resulting PDF is much more coherent than anything they produce on their own."

"Used the Transfer / Scholarship Application type for a master's scholarship portfolio. The personal statement and career goals sections together gave the committee exactly the narrative framing they asked for."

★★★★★

"The multiple education entries and 'Add Project' feature are what set this apart. My diploma students often have three or four qualification levels to show — this tool handles all of them cleanly in one document."
