Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the International Student Fee Comparator?
The International Student Fee Comparator is a free tool that lets school administrators, DSOs, and students compare tuition fees, living costs, one-time charges, and total costs for up to 4 international study programmes side by side — with a weighted best-value score and PDF or CSV export.
What fees does the comparator include?
The comparator covers tuition (annual), application fee, SEVIS/enrolment fee, health insurance, housing and living costs, books and supplies, transport, and visa or permit fees — giving you a complete picture of both annual recurring costs and one-time charges.
How is the weighted score calculated?
The weighted score applies your chosen importance weights (Low, Medium, or High) to three cost factors — tuition, living costs, and one-time fees. The programme with the lowest weighted total cost receives the highest score and is flagged as the best-value choice.
Can I compare more than 2 programmes?
Yes — you can compare up to 4 programmes at once. Click the Add Programme button to add a 3rd or 4th programme card. Each programme card accepts all fee categories independently.
Is this International Student Fee Comparator free to use?
Yes — the tool is completely free. No login, account, or subscription is required. All calculations run entirely in your browser and no data is sent to any server.

"We used to spend an entire afternoon building fee comparison spreadsheets for prospective families. This tool does it in two minutes, and the weighted score feature is exactly what parents need to make an informed decision."

"The one-time fees breakdown finally makes SEVIS, visa, and application costs visible alongside tuition. Most comparison tools skip these entirely. This is a much more honest picture of what students will actually pay."

"Our students are choosing between programmes in France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Having health insurance, housing, and transport all in one table — with a downloadable PDF — has made advising sessions far more productive."

"The pros and cons panel is genuinely useful. It flags which programme wins on tuition, which wins on living costs, and which wins overall — without us having to explain the trade-offs manually every time."
