Monthly Attendance Reporting — Theory & Standards

Key formulas and conventions used to compile a compliant monthly attendance report.

01
Monthly Attendance Percentage
Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Classes Held) × 100

Calculated per student across all sessions held in the month. Each session — lecture, tutorial, or lab — counts as one unit regardless of duration.

02
Eligibility Classification
Eligible ≥ R%  ·  At Risk ≥ R−5%  ·  Ineligible < R−5%

Where R is the institution-set minimum required percentage (typically 75–85%). At-risk students are flagged early so advisors can intervene before they become ineligible.

03
Class Average Attendance
Class Avg = Σ(Student %) ÷ Total Students

The mean attendance percentage across all students in the class. Used to benchmark departmental performance, compare cohorts year-on-year, and identify systemic scheduling issues.
