- Grade comparison — each completed course grade is compared against the minimum grade the target course demands. An A in CS101 satisfies a "min B" requirement; a C does not.
- Name matching — the tool matches prerequisite names against completed course names (case-insensitive). Partial matches flag a warning rather than a hard fail.
- Missing prerequisites — any required prerequisite with no match in the completed courses list is treated as a critical failure.
- No-prerequisite courses — a target course with no prerequisites defined is automatically marked Eligible.
