Common Questions

Free Scholarship Comparison Tool — FAQ

How many scholarships can I compare at once?
You can compare up to four scholarships simultaneously. Two are added by default — click Add Another Scholarship to add a third or fourth.
How is the weighted match score calculated?
Each scholarship is scored across five criteria: award value, application ease (fewer requirements), renewability, deadline urgency, and eligibility fit. Each criterion is multiplied by your selected priority weight (High = 3, Medium = 2, Low = 1) and the scores are averaged to produce a percentage out of 100.
What does the eligibility check do?
If you enter your GPA and a scholarship has a minimum GPA requirement, the tool automatically flags whether you meet the threshold with a ✓ or ✗ indicator. This affects your eligibility score in the weighted comparison.
Can I compare scholarships without filling in every field?
Yes — only the scholarship name is required. Unfilled numeric fields default to 0 or no requirement, so the comparison will still work. For the most accurate weighted score, fill in as many fields as possible.
How do I download the comparison?
Click Download Comparison PDF after generating the table. A formatted A4 PDF is created in your browser and opens for printing or saving — no server upload required.
Who is this tool for?
Students researching multiple scholarship options, school counsellors helping students prioritise their applications, and financial aid advisors comparing funding packages for their students.

"I had three scholarships I was unsure about and this helped me realise the one with the lower award was actually the best fit because of renewal and fewer requirements. Really useful framing."

School Counsellor
*****

"I use this with students who come to me overwhelmed by scholarship options. The weighted score gives them something concrete to discuss rather than just talking in circles."

"My son was applying to four different scholarships simultaneously. This helped us prioritise which applications to complete first based on deadline, award, and how hard it was to apply."

Admissions Advisor
*****

"The eligibility flag is particularly helpful. Students often don't notice minimum GPA requirements until they've invested hours in an application. This makes it obvious upfront."
