Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of formative assessment templates are available?
Six templates: Exit Ticket (3 end-of-lesson questions), KWL Chart (Know/Want to Know/Learned), 3-2-1 Reflection, Observation Checklist (rate students on custom criteria), Think-Pair-Share Record, and Traffic Light Self-Assessment.
Can I customise the questions and prompts in each template?
Yes — every template is fully editable. Exit Ticket questions, KWL chart content, 3-2-1 prompts, observation criteria and student lists, Think-Pair-Share timing, and Traffic Light labels can all be changed before downloading.
How does the Observation Checklist work?
Add your assessment criteria and student names, then choose a rating scale (1–3, 1–4, or Present/Not Present). A formatted grid is built automatically so you can print it and fill ratings during class.
Can I use the Traffic Light template for whole-class feedback?
Yes. You can pre-fill student names into each column before printing, or leave the columns blank for students to self-sort in class. Toggle the 'Include blank columns' option to control this.
Is the PDF suitable for printing and distributing to students?
Yes. The PDF opens in a new browser tab and prints automatically in A4 format. Exit Ticket, 3-2-1, and Think-Pair-Share templates include blank response lines for handwritten student answers.

"I use the Exit Ticket template at the end of every lesson. It takes me about 90 seconds to set up, and I have a professional-looking slip to hand out immediately. The muddiest point question has completely changed how I plan my next lesson."

"The KWL Chart template is exactly what our department needed for lesson hooks. Teachers pre-fill the K and W columns in the morning, print them, and students complete the L column at the end. Clean, fast, and no design skills needed."

"The Traffic Light self-assessment is brilliant for younger students. I love that I can pre-label the columns with simple language and print it immediately. My class knows exactly what to do with it."

"We recommended this to our whole staff as a no-login, no-install formative assessment solution. The Observation Checklist with a customisable rating scale is particularly useful for PE and practical subjects."
